DRYING

Whether your lumber is green or air-dried, we have the capability to subject it to kiln drying, adjusting it to your desired humidity level. Furthermore, we are authorized to pasteurize and sterilize wood, certifying it as Heat Treated (HT), a process frequently required for wood intended for export.

kiln drying

Wood kiln drying is a controlled process crucial for enhancing the quality and stability of lumber. This method involves placing freshly cut wood into a kiln, a specialized chamber, to reduce its moisture content. Kilns employ a combination of heat, air circulation, and humidity control to accelerate the drying process, preventing warping, cracking, and fungal growth. By carefully monitoring temperature and moisture levels, kiln drying ensures uniform drying throughout the wood, promoting structural integrity. This technique is widely used in the lumber industry, enabling efficient production, minimizing defects, and delivering high-quality, dimensionally stable wood for various applications in construction and woodworking.

Heat-treated wood

Heat-treated wood, also known as thermally modified wood, undergoes a controlled heating process to enhance its properties. This method involves subjecting the wood to elevated temperatures in the absence of oxygen. The process alters the wood’s cellular structure, making it more resistant to decay, insects, and moisture absorption. Heat treatment can also improve dimensional stability, reducing the risk of warping or cracking. The result is a durable, eco-friendly material with enhanced performance characteristics. Heat-treated wood is often sought after for outdoor applications, decking, siding, and interior projects, providing a sustainable alternative with increased resistance to environmental factors.
